Scots: The finest preparation for life
The Scots College is a distinctive Australian school that defends the honourable traditions, adventures and learning of boys. We exist to inspire boys to learn, lead and serve as they strive for excellence together. Scots has been raising fine young men since 1893 from Sydney, New South Wales and many different nations from around the world.
Scots is committed to a culture of high expectations. As one of the top private boys’ schools in Sydney, we acknowledge the importance of student engagement, of challenge and active learning opportunities.
Academic excellence is critically important, and our record demonstrates our success. But Scots aims for an even higher goal. We prepare boys to succeed in a world that is constantly being reinvented. Our deep understanding of how boys grow and learn is captured in our Brave Hearts Bold Minds philosophy. This means we support every boy, at every stage of development, to become a confident, well-grounded young man of integrity.
The College has a commitment to inspire and extend the interests, talents and skills of boys. A wide range of Co-Curricular and Sport programs can be passionately pursued at every stage of the Scots journey.
The Glengarry Outdoor Education Program is a two term residential experience undertaken by Year 9 boys. Located in the pristine Kangaroo Valley, two hours south west of Sydney, Glengarry provides a learning environment with the highest level of ORIC accreditation with extensive state-of-the-art safety and risk management procedures.
Boarding at Scots, available from Year 5 onwards, offers high quality education in a safe and nurturing environment, where boys are supported to reach their full potential.
Each year a number of means-tested Academic and Music Scholarships are awarded by the College. Means-tested bursaries are also available to boys entering Years 7 to 11.
The College has intentionally chosen a path where active learning works with academic excellence. Our local, national and international programs, inspire our boys to become principled, compassionate and engaged citizens of their College, their community and their world.
The Scots College Foundation
Since 1993, the Foundation has supported the continued advancement of The Scots College through financial support of its capital development and scholarship programs.
The Foundation’s ultimate objective is to provide the College with long-term financial security through establishing and maintaining an independent capital base. To achieve this, the Foundation provides for the sound administration of an ongoing philanthropic program.
The Scots College receives generous support from Old Boys, their families, and the wider Scots community.
All donations enhance College life for boys present and future, creating an environment that truly is the finest preparation for life. Our facilities – academic, sport, co-curricular activities, including health and wellbeing – encourage students to lead, learn, and serve with excellence together.
